Family was always first and a day never past when he did not overtly appreciate us and tell us how much he loved us. When it came to Colin and his interests, particularly hockey, Larry’s passion and intensity was bigger than life and evident to all. When Larry was diagnosed with Brain Cancer, he took that battle on with a fearless intensity. After each of seven craniotomies in 2 1/2 years he was determined to break the record for the least amount of post- op time spent in the hospital. He did break that record, in one day and out in two. Armed with faith and passion for life, he lived every day to the fullest as I am sure he is doing now in eternity. His loving wife Candy |

Aaron Chang–Photographer/Entrepreneur
Began photographic career in 1976 as a staff photographer for Surfing Magazine. Worked under Larry Moore’s guidance as Senior Staff Photographer for over 25 years. Launched the Aaron Chang brand in 1995 producing photo-sublimated apparel. Married with 2 young boys currently living in San Diego, California. “Most of my success in photography, and life in general, I attribute to the teaching and mentorship I received from Larry. Serving on the FTLF board is my chance to express my gratitude to Flame.”
Lindsay Autumn Blue
I live in Monarch Beach and am a sales manager for Surfline.com. It is a wonderful opportunity to help push surf media into the digital era. I was offered this after working with Larry and the crew at Surfing Magazine. I owe so much to Larry, he showed me drive, determination and perseverance. His faith was unwavering and his love for Surfing showed me how to make a passion a career. Being able to be a part of something that allows Larry’s memory to prosper in others is a gift I am so grateful for.
Celeste Moureaux
I am a 4th grade school teacher and Reading specialist. Larry was my big brother. He was the bar I have measured my entire life against. He was my best friend and we were incredibly blessed to share a bond that few human beings ever know. Before he left he implored us to “Carry the torch” in his absence. Candy and I vowed to do whatever it would take to make sure that the work he started continued. Follow the Light Foundation is the realization of that promise. Larry was that light to so many. I am committed to keeping his dream alive.
Ross Garrett
My wife, Alexis and I live in Cardiff, California. I have been involved in surf media for the last 11 years, most recently as the President of Media for start-up media company, Airborne Media LLC. Prior to that, I was the Publisher of Surfing magazine where he worked closely with Larry Moore during his last days. I joined the magazine after working with leading apparel company, Patagonia, where I helped with strategy on their surf inspired apparel initiative. Prior to that, I was Executive Editor at Surfer Magazine, a post I held for three years.
Sam Olson
I work at Surfing Magazine as the Associate Photo Editor Grew up in Santa Cruz, went to Brooks Institute of Photography and love to bodysurf.
I knew Larry from the time I started submitting images to Surfing Magazine.
He was always an encouragement in my photography, but more importantly in my faith. Larry had a faith that just jumped out and grabbed my attention as he went through the pain of medical treatments. He knew that we have a God watching over us and as Larry said “we have the greatest healer of all on our side.” Larry was a great friend and inspiration to me.
Candace Moore
Larry and I were married 31 years. We had one son, Colin. Those 2 1/2 years when Larry was ill, he made sure he connected with as many people that touched his life that he could. He called them, gave away things, ie: cameras, lenses, boat stuff, love. He did not want to miss an opportunity. Two weeks before he died, he told me that he wished he had left something for the up and coming photographers, knowing how difficult and expensive it is to make it in the field. When he died in my arms that morning of October 10th, I knew I needed to make that happen for him. Thus was born this foundation.
